Pediatric Illness Classroom Survey (PICS) was devised to detect the presence, nature, and severity of an illness’s impact at school. Its 41 theory-based items are teacher-completed items. They help prevent practitioners in clinics and schools from overlooking the unique signature of health problem at school. Items, each of which is qualitative, cover: Current Skills and Capabilities, Retain Skills and Capabilities, Classroom Performance and Productivity, School Adjustment and Interpersonal Skills as well as Attendance and Time Out of Class. A supplemental section can be used to address OHI or Section 504 eligibility. The manual covers usage, interpretation and provides illustrative case examples.
